I took a photo of it for my own inventory and a self-reminder because I think this is the most efficient arrangement I did so far (I rearrange a lot).

The bottom shelf is for all the crafts/pens/scraps (the little unboxed pieces I put in the wrapped shoe boxes you see while the bigger ones are all thrown into that rectangular plastic).

The second are for my documents, filed papers and notebooks.

The third row is for my medical bibles (the more important ones at eye level)

The fourth level is for my older medical books and review materials

The top most shelf is for all other random references (mostly, bargain buys which I just collect just in case it comes useful in the future)

We also had humongous amounts of handouts for school so what I did was to bind them per 2 semesters mostly using a ring binder (we bought ours a few years ago for a little more that P2000) or a padding glue for lesser amount of pages. I'm not exactly a consistent organized person and when I do my compilations, I multi task - so you have to give me about a week before I fully organize my school things.

The compiled handouts (and the yet unfiled ones in folders, *tee hee*) are found on the shelf similar to the one in this photo. They live together with my other leisure reads (fiction books mostly) that are located in the living room.

Be organized. She read the ultrasound and was as equally happen as I am (I think) that baby is fine, appropriately sized for his age, weight is alrightdaw (but I’m reading foreign books and if I’ll base his weight from those books, he’s lighter than average). It may be that I really just have a small tummy (darn, but how come mytummy’s always fatty and big even if I lose weight ? ). My fundic height measured 28 cm, by the way. She said since everything’s fine, that would be my last ultrasound before giving birth.

(ok, be ready for some girl stuff here)

Anyway, I wasn’t supposed to be checked but , if you could remember, I wrote about my last check up and results as well as my worry about fluid leaks here. I asked doc about how I could differentiate between wee wee (a bit of incontinence, you know that feeling when you urinated sometimes while walking or probably while your baby is having a body jam inside the tummy) and amniotic leak. So she explained again it’s totally normal to have that whitish secretion but she added that you shouldn’t be really wet. Even a teaspoon or tablespoon clear fluid you see on your undies, with the tingly, warm feeling that something is leaking out of your va-j just like you’re having your menstruation is a leak. She asked when I started having but I can’t remember. It wasn’t often, anyway, and just like I said, I thought it could have been a full bladder plus a karate kiddo cramped up in my small tummy.

Well, as she was measuring my fundic height, she also observed my currently contracted uterus and we waited until it softened again. She said if it occurs often and for how long. It doesn’t last long but it happens frequently lately, yes – and not painful, I said. On being not painful, that may be something to watch out for because it might be that before even I know it I’m already in labor.

Anyway as a precautionary measure (I already mentioned about being prone to infections and early labor), she gave me medicines – two antibiotics (from what I learned, it’s two because you want to cover a wide range of agents – in which one med is just meant to deal with those belonging to one end of the spectrum and another medicine would be the one to cover the other end..) and another medicine as a uterine relaxant. I’m to take the antibiotics for a week while the tocolytic, I would take until I get about my 37th week.

Ok. And so she said I better be in bed rest as well, to which still asked towards the end, can’t I really do my walks anymore? Too early and still dangerous for labor at this time – she said. I should walk again though once we hit our 37th.

I’m not that stubborn (hmpft, partner kinda says I am). Oh well, maybe a bit. But not when it comes to this. I’ll just do cabs when going out, no more walking, more couch person-ing (apparently, I thought I was having way too much already) and a lot more food delivery from now on.

Left overs

So I have broccoli, carrots, celery, and parsley. The smallest I can find in the supermarket is good for a number of dishes. So here's what I made (since I'm alone, my quick meals are usually good for 2-3 persons):

Chicken Sandwich

I have more than 1/4kilo of whole chicken breast which I boiled together with some celery, onion, salt and pepper. I removed the chicken, cooled it, shredded the meat into strips and divided it for the sandwich spread and the noodle soup for later use.

Here's how I like my spread: put in chicken strips, finely chopped 1/4 of a small red onion, celery stalks (blanched), a baby carrot (also blanched), pickled relish, salt, sugar, and pepper. I put in just enough mayonnaise to keep it a bit moist. I put in a bit of everything. I particularly love the celery and a touch of fresh onion leaves + the crunchiness of carrots =).

To prepare it in the sandwich, a heated soft wheat bread would be great with a bit of unsalted butter and then some slices of fresh cucumber + another dash of pepper!

Creamy Vegetable Noodle Soup

I sauté the chicken meat together with garlic and onion, added the chicken stock from the boiled chicken breast then put in spaghetti noodles (broken into smaller pieces) and when it's half cooked, I added chopped broccoli, carrots, celery (again!) and then milk as I put off the flame. Season to taste. I wanted to put in some malunggay leaves but it's not currently available at the supermarket. Yummy, as well. =)

Red Sauce

The last time I made red sauce was during the holy week, thus it was meatless. I decided to make another one this time adding meat.

So, like any other, you saute garlic, onion, mushrooms and ground beef (1/4 kilo was too much... ahahaha). Add a can of diced tomatoes and a small pack of tomato paste, a bit of water. I added beef bouillon cube, pickles, celery, sugar, salt, pepper then allow it to thicken a bit.

I put a portion of it into another container for cooling, before I am intending to freeze it to be enjoyed later on (well, within a week's time).

The remaining part I left heating, I added carrots and cheddar cheese until it melted. Lastly, I put on chopped basil leaves and parsley and dried oregano. I still readjusted the taste. There.

Sunset Concert

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; It's not really more about boredom but because maybe, there is someone out there just like me (even just a bit), who writes as well. I would like to read those. I'm also gather ideas for possible craft projects for the little one (Divisoria date, anyone?)

Last night, I was in the mood to look for places to go to. Sonya's Garden (Bed and Breakfast) popped up and the other interesting place is, Alfonso Hotel Farm, Casa San Pablo. I'm making another mental note of Casa San Pablo in Laguna. I like the really quiet country feel with the opportunity to have a cultural tour within the area (This isn't a promotion blog or something.).

It's good I'm still preggy so I can't really go to places yet because I think to really enjoy what they offer I also need to really save first (ehehe). She used to sew all our curtains, among some random stuffs (not dresses, I think she mentioned she did before but since my tita is a dressmaker, we never had a problem with dresses for any occasion). She got a bit busy and our old sewing machine finally surrendered so no more sewing projects for us.

Anyway, I suddenly remembered all about sewing because of this

This project (and the photos) is a quiet book I learned from Naptime.

- - -

I think this is so fun. I see sewing as the counterpart of children’s coloring books for adults like me who isn’t really gifted with an artistic eyes and hands but who seem to have all their hyperactiveness concentrated on their wrists and fingers. (haha, get it?)

At… akalain mo yun, making quiet book is all over the net pala (so as other crafts). Here’s another one.

HAHA. SANA HINDI LANG BY THEORY ko to magawa. I wish I still have my old colorful socks (I think they’re perfect for this project)… and ooohhh, the baby clothes as canvasses, and so as the overused baby towels!

Now, I want to go to Quiapo, or Divisoria. We already have the basic baby clothes (we just bought everything from one brand and asked the sales person for everything that’s needed and that made everything hassle free), feeding bottles (got the expensive one, I hope it’s worth it) and sterilizer.

We also looked for a crib and stroller but they were not on sale, so we just decided that we’ll survey some more.

This one’s a bit of a want purchase for both my mother and me.

Of course, the sales person sales-talked us about it a bit at first. But come to think of it, it would be good for me as well so I don’t have to worry while sleeping in bed (specially if ever I do end up getting CS) and I could even put it on top of my table while studying so I’ll still have my eyes on the baby (or maybe even read to him, my lessons?) all the time… well, for as long as he still fits in it. It’s also portable (folds into a bag), so mother said, it’ll also be used at Sanmat (so we won’t need to buy two cribs, sana.

(I browsed the review at Amazon just now and The complaints are mostly about overgrowing the co-sleeper a bit too fast or it doesn’t fit well in their bed. One thing I'm excited about is reading together. I'm not exactly your intellectual bookwork but I love to read and I know how it can be both an uplifting and educational experience. That's why I want to share it with my son as early as possible (as early as now? ahaha). Bedtime story is a must. I'll probably teach my son's caregiver to love books as well and to encorporate it with his playtime.

[can't wait.]

Anyway, here's another idea I got from a fellow blogger. Baby's ~25.5cm in length (head to bottom) and he's in a breech position. I just suddenly remembered tonight the why's of being breech - one is baby's preference position but the others are really a bit more complicated such as having a short umbilical cord, or having it twisted at a certain part of the baby's body (that's why it's not really advisable for a hilot to force turn a baby).

Anyway, I also brought in some questions including my on going mild edema. OB said it a bit early that I'm already experiencing swelling. It's one sided (it's more on my right lower extremity than the left) and this may be caused by my preferences in position. Less sodium intake is also more important now, because of this, as well as maintaining adequate hydration.

It also led me into asking about the significance of sleeping position, whether left sidelying is preferred more than right. OB said they (the doctors) advise left side lying for hypertensive pregnant women and those with small babies. This position has something to do with relieving the pressure on the larger vessels, the aorta and specially those that supply your tummy and the legs. Since I also don't have a problem with that as of the moment, any will do. That's yey for me because I have a preference for right side lying.

I also asked if there's no need to have additional tests specially that I don't limit myself much into eating sweets. Takot rin naman ako noh. Ehe. Anyway, and so she asked if I'm drinking sweets and I reply, more of eating. As per her advice - if you said no I wouldn't have advised it anymore but since you said yes, go on and have another glucose challenge test.

So we're already on our 28th week - oooh. Baby's activity pa pala. OB asked me to monitor baby's activity which should be at least 10 times every two hours (well, I heard in one book it's 10 times every hour), in the morning, afternoon and the evening. Cool. We're really almost there ano?

That's just about it, next follow up with my doctor will be after 3 weeks.

Got time?

I rediscovered a game I used to play way back in high school with my classmates. I just feel like wearing my PJ's all day while studying for Pharma (hmm, on the side reading Picoult and Net-ting).

Tummy. My current favorite (no, it has always been my favorite) part of the body. I just found something weird - the shape or the (position perhaps?) of my uterus. You see, when I do positions resembling abdominal crunches, my tummy tenses and shapes weirdly. Imagine all the fatty ares (for me are the sides, the bilbils) deflecting and then that weird firm vertically and slightly laterally placed with curved borders show up (alongside with the belly button being more prominent - that's the expected shift from it being inverted to an everted umbilicus).

A bit freaked out of how it looks but it's alright. I'm more freaked out though of diastasis recti. It's what you call what happens when your rectus abdominis (that's the pandesal muscles) separates on the midline because it's too weak ( for example, to accommodate your tummy's expanding size and tension. I guess this is another reason why you avoid excessive lifting of heavy things (I read though, it's still ok up to a limit as long as you do it properly ... so no worries there, and no tamad excuses, or need for extra help, really).

And baby's preference to stay on the right side (because I sleep right sidelying most of the time). Kinda finding ways to make him stay on the left, so my tummy will be more symmetrical. Pwede ka ya un?

I had pandesal and hot chocolate this morning, and bought eggs that to use for egg sandwich.... because for me that's the perfect match (just like tuna is for wheat bread while chicken is for white bread... just my preferences though any combination will do).

Happy Morning.

Chilling

My current deskstop display. =)

My Karate Kid

FINALLY, baby's showing up, even in my uniform (and yes, probably a week longer then I'd need bigger skirts). Just please, please, I also don't want to gain much (I mean, too much that I'll have increased risk for gest diabetes and preeclampsia)

I've been telling you about the kicks. Now, I suddenly remembered what OB said that tummy looks bigger than usual (uhhm, yes, see me naked, my body looks madaya when clothed) because I am small. My photo in uniform was taken days after I took the first one. I just realized how deceiving my uniform is. The first one was taken here at home, the second was during our poster presentation last Friday. I dunno. I find it astig in a way. I'm not hiding him or anything (sabi ko nga, I won't deny, or lie about the baby, they just have to ask). At one moment I'm so up there, the next time I'm literally dragging myself to move, and sometimes, everything just stops. Since Mom also suggested that I consult a doctor whose main hospital is nearby, I went for my friend's OB whose clinic is at the hospital near both my pad and my school. So there, trust and accessibility check!

Basically, she again briefly asked for my medical history and did a little counselling on the right foods to eat. Oh no because it's not easy to have a decent diet at the very least (I live alone, eat student meals, fastfoods, convenience store food, you get the point), how much more a baby-in-the-making diet.

She also emphasized that I increase my calcium w intake since I really do not drink milk since I can remember. Ayan, sige I'll try the chocolate flavored high calcium (the 500 mg/ serving) milk although it's good because finally, I'm asked to drink Ca tablets alongside the multivitamins (*relieved*). The goal is 1000 mg a day now and 1500 for the last three months.

I also asked na rin about my loss of weight just to be sure (lost around 10 lbs), although the book says it's quite normal for the first trimester. I still think it's more of the loss of appetite for me than the frequently expected vomiting. Anyway, no problem about that as well as my blood pressure - mine is low normal, even before.

First Trip to Divisoria

...and my first night shopping there.

It was an adventure for me and my classmate. We decided to take the train to Carriedo and take another jeepney ride hoping it will a shorter trip. It was fine I guess except that we forgot it was already rush hourand the train would most likely be overflowing (and incompatible pheromones get stimulated which then makes your corrugator supercili contract, sorry).

Anyway, we found the right street eventually, Laiya, where everything related to dressmaking and crafts can be found (*nanay makes a mental note*). We were able to buy most of the things we need for our candidates' costumes but it's still a bit more expensive than what I expected. *pagod*

Going to Divi at night? Not advisable. Oo nga naman, the place is not well lighted and most of the stores' trashes are already EVERYWHERE... At this time, it's not people you're actually bumping or stepping into - but rather spilled food, boxes, basura, basura, and more basura.

Hmmm... however, seeing boxes and boxes of fresh fruits, BEAUTIFUL mangoes, sweet smelling oranges are not bad at all. *Yummy!*

It's our last week before Christmas break and it's BENIGN, thank God!

Hello there Sweetheart

Here's our little alien. Nobody told me out patient diagnostics are usually closed on a Sunday.

OB said I need to have trans-v after two weeks (and not earlier than that or else, pababalikin lang ako some other time).
